I received your letter of the 1st Inst enclosing Muster & Pay Rolls of the men under your command for July 1797, as the Secretary of War has ordered Peter Larkins to be discharged from his being formerly discharged for inability he must refund to you the sum you have paid him for the same reason, his Pay has been deducted from the Pay Roll which leaves the sum of Seventy two dollars &70/100 which you will receive of from John Chester Esqr Supervisor at Weathersfield giving him the necessary receipts holding yourself accountable. I am &c.
