Nicholas Fish Esq^r Accountants Office Supervisor New York August 9^th 1797 Sir The Treasurer of the United Sta[tes will] remit you the sum of One hundred & ten dollar[s and] three cents which you will be pleased to pay to Lieu[tenant] Andrew Marschalk at Ellis's Island, taking the ne[cessary] receipts holding him accountable for the due appl[ication] of the same being for pay of the Recruits under his [com] mand to 31 July 1797. I am &c H^oa Simmons Acct Lieut^t Andrew Marschalk Accountants O[ffice] Ellis's Island August 9^th 17[97] near New York Sir I received your letter of the 7^th [inst] enclosing the Muster & Pay Roll of the Recruits under [your] command to the 31 July 1797, after adding forty nin[e cents] short calculated on the Pay of James Plunkett a[nd] deducting Sixty dollars for your own Pay hav[ing] received it in advance, leaves the sum of One [hundred] & ten dollars and fifty three cents which you will rece[ive of] Nicholas Fish Esq^r Supervisor, New York on giving duplicate receipts holding yourself accountab[le for] the due application of the same.
