The money transmitted to you by the Treasurer of the United States on the 5th July, — amount Five hundred Dollars, you will be pleased to pay to Mr George Claghorn Constructor of the Frigate building at Boston, being for his Compensation from 1st April to 30 June 1797 inclusive, and take his duplicate receipts for the same.

I received your letter of the 31 ulto. in answer to which I have to inform you that immediately on the receipt of your letter of the 3d ulto. enclosing your account for compensation from 1 April to 30 June 1797 a Warrant was issued for the amount from this Department and the money transmitted by the Treasurer of the United States on 5th July to Jonathan Jackson Esqr Supervisor at Boston but thro the neglect of the Clerk who acted on the account Mr Jackson or yourself were not advised at the time but on application to Mr Jackson on receipt of this
