Pittsburg 28 July 1797 Sir, I have received your letter of the 22^d instant covering one addressed to the D.M.G. who is shortly expected here. This day another of Daniel Haragan's drafts for 1500 Dollars similar to those formerly mentioned has been presented to me and which I have also declined accepting. I have apprehensive that delaying accepting of these Bills will be attended with some inconveniency to the depart=ment and am therefore sorry that the D.M.G. has not provided for them. The box too containing last Recd. is not yet found nor is it probable that its contents would by this time be of any use. Hope you will be able to negotiate the business with Physick & Butler. Hodgdon will be pleased to cause to be made that a Return of Stores at Pittsburg was made for January February and March 1795 which was rejected by him as entirely useless in account of inaccuracies in the returns preceeding that date, and that in consequence of such rejection another return was made out for one entire year ending the 1^st of April 1796 from this last return [from] the one for six months then next following the above statement is taken which differs from Col. Hodgdon's his being extracted from the first return. I am now taking a general review of the stores on hand which will enable me to rectify some mistakes in my return occasion'd by a difference between the marks and contents of packages received in behalf of the Militia Army.
