July 1797 Sir, Your letter of the 15^th instant was handed me by M^r Robert Knop whom I have furnished with a boat properly fitted out for expeditiously ascending the Ohio Milississippe to Natchez and have employed three boatmen to assist in Navigating and have supplied him and boatmen with provision and arms and ammunition &c— My letter of the 12^th of May last (and to which I have again to take the liberty of begging your attention) pointed out the case of an Indian Woman who was in great distress, boarded &Provided with lodging, The expences by Ann Girty a poor woman who has repeatedly called upon me for compensation.
