Accountants Offi[ce] Paymaster General July 24^th. 1797 Head Quarters of the Army Sir I have received your letter of 25^th [enclosing Major Jonathan Bass's Account Current and vouch]ers for monies received from you on account of the recruiting service. I shall not be able to enter [the] Account on the Books of this Office so as to pas[s] final credit to you for the amount, untill the[y] have been mustered which does not yet appear [to be] the case. I would wish that this might be done and you would send me forward one of the muster rolls. I will endeavour to stop out Six months pay & Subsistence due to Doctor Allison the Two hundred dollars overpaid [by] you. The $30[undecipherable] advanced by you to him on account of supplies furnished the Hospital Department should of right be refunded to you, (the same having been paid out of monies appropriated for different purp-oses) and his accounts against that Department should be settled at the Treasury.
