I received your letter of 1 Inst enclosing your accounts for furnishing the men at Fort Johnston under the command of Serjt Philip Williams with rations — accounts of this nature are not proper to be settled at this Office — I have accordingly transmitted them to the Auditor of the Treasury Department who will take the proper steps to effect a settlement, and you no doubt will be informed by him of the result.
