Pittsburg 16 July 1797 [9?] This will be handed into your Office by M^r Robert M^cCrea who goes express with despatches from the Commander in Chief to the Secretary of War. I have furnished him with thirty dollars to enable him to proceed to Phil^a but it is probable he may have occasion for a further supply previous to his return which you will please to advance to him and you will also be pleased to see that he is not unnecessarily detained in Phil^a. Mars & Hamiltons Waggons have arrived and Hamilton as usual being short of cash I have furnished him with 50 dollars. His receipt for that sum is enclosed and which be pleased to charge to him & place to my credit. The D.M.G informed me that the Commander in Chief is extremely solicitous that all the Indian Goods, Cloathing &c be pushed forward to Presqu'isle with all possible expedition. This, so far as those articles have come to hand has been particularly attended to as all except Hamilton's Waars loads are either at Presqu'isle or far advanced on the way. But it would be a mean of facilitating the transportation from this post by having Copies of the Invoices of Stores sent from Phil^a transmitted to me as early as possible by post. This would enable me to calculate on the time of their Arrival and to make the necessary arrangements for pushing them forward to their final destination.
