Excuse the liberty I take in writing to you a few times in recommendation of my pupil Mr Henry Wells, he is desirous of serving his Country by entering on Board the Frigate now Building here - in capacity of surgeon or surgeons Mate;He has been at the study of Medicine for about four years - & has attended a Course of lectures at the University of Pennsylvania, from these advantages, from his attention to his studies, & improvement in the line of his Profession - & from other good qualifications, I hesitate not in saying, that would your Choice fall upon him as assistant surgeon & Physician on Board the Constellation, you will have no cause to regret, but, to be pleased & satisfyed - with a wish therefore sir, that your Interest may lead to his appointment, I subscribe myself with much respect your Humble Servant Geo Buchanan
