Nehemiah Freeman                                  Accountants Office Temporary Paymaster                                  July 11^th 1797 Sir I received your letter of the 8^th Inst. enclosing the West Point Pay and Muster Rolls for the last m[onth —] Before I cause an examination and report to be made, it will be necessary that I should be furnished with a Certificate signed by the Superintendent of artificers stating that they have been truly and justly employed for the Public for the month charged. this is absolutely necessary as well for the month of May as the last month. you will accordingly attend to this in your payments.
