Edward Miller                      Accountants Offic[e]    Middlton                                          July 6^th 1797        Connecticutt            Sir                    I received your letter of the 1^st Insta[nt] with the different enclosures therein mentioned[,] you will receive Credit for the amount of the different receipts for balances of bounties of cou[ntry] on the Books of this Office.                    You will receive the amount o[f the] Pay Roll for Pay of yourself and Recriuts for Ju[ne] as usual from John Chester Esq^r. Supervisor. We[st-] -field amounting to Sixty eight Dollars and seven[ty] Cents on giving him the necessary receipts holdin[g] yourself accountable for the due application of same.                    If the object of your enquir[y] concerning William Nisbitt be to ascertain whe[ther] or not he is a Deserter you will have to point ou[t the] Corps and Company that it is most probable he join[ed] after enlistment as well as the period as nearly as po[ssible] before any information on that subject can be trac[ed] in this Offices.                    I am rc.                                            Wm Simmons                                                 Acct.
