Rec^d 12 July.] [96 ½] Boston July 5^th 1797 [& to] Your Letter of the 6^th Ult° I rec^d not receive untile the 29^th as it laid several days in the Post Office; I Should have immediately forwarded the receipts call'd for, but the Quarterly Return being so nigh due led me to believe they would answer the same purpose at that period — Had I have known your desire of receiving the receipts Monthly I should have certainly forwarded them - notwithstanding the Instructions otherwise requires him to forward to you the Receipts Quarterly. In future they shall be transmitted according to your desire.
