Regarding the casting and proving of cannons for the Algerine Frigate
Document 1797Josiah Fox reports that Secretary of War wishes to inform Mr Jones that he must depend on Mr. Hughes' punctual performance in casting of 12, 9, and 6 pounder cannon. The Algerine Frigate is ready for launching; masts, rigging are prepared. Fox estimates she will be ready for launch at end of present month. Would like to be informed by Mr. Hughes when the 9 and 6 pounders will be ready for proving, so that someone may be assigned to preside.
