In conformity with your wish I have looked over the militia Law and find it defective in several important points; but as there is little prospect that any valuable changes could be obtained by attempting a general revision of it at this period of the Session, I [strikethrough: heartless] should think it most advisable to either to postpone the subject to the next Session or bring in a supplement with such additions as may render there is a likelihood would be agreed to in the house of representatives.
I have subjoined two or three supplementary clauses of this nature for your consideration.
