Enclosed is an extract taken from the Wa[r] Book in continuation, forwarded to you extending [to] this day. On examination of your last transmission [of] Warrants & accounts I observe that you charge additio[nal] Pay in pursuance of the act of Congress of the 30^th May[,] if you will reexamine that Act, and refer to the sub[s]- one you will find that Congress had no intentions wh[en] of encreasing your Pay, and emoluments by stiling you "Paymaster General" I shall on a final examina[tion] make the deduction from your accounts, and this oppo[r]-tunity of mentioning it that you may not be mis-lead by my silence on the subject.
