The different vouchers contained in your letter of the 1st ultimo (the receipt of which was acknowledged the 16th Instant) have undergone examination, and the result has been as follows, vizt
The amount receipted in the Receipt Rolls of the men under your command for August September, & October 1796 is agreable to your statement Six hundred and seventy seven dollars & ninety eight Cents which sum will be passed to your Credit on the Books of this Office.
The following Receipts for bounty charged in your Recruiting account are found to be wanting — Thomas Brown — 10
Henry Edwards — 10
Hardy Mason — 10
James Minyard — 10—
It will be necessary for you to swear to the payments of the said bounties and transmit your affadavit before you can receive Credit for the same on the Books of this Office.—
The premiums charged by you for enlisting John Powell is inadmissible as it appears by your own statement that he deserted previous to any muster after his inlistment.
