Lieut. 1 " Privts."] Sir Fort Wilkinson 19^th June 1797 Both yours to me dated the 3^d 4, 11^th May came to hand yesterday. Also my Ac^t Current, the Pay & Muster Rolls therein mentioned inclosed. When I left Philadelphia in 1792 I brought with me to this Country One thousand dollars to defray contingent expences, part of which I have Accordingly Apply'd to the Public use when I could not call on the Contractor for to Supply me — these expences certainly were to be paid from the contingent fund then in my hands. All the Adj. Genl would not allow in my Ac^t those charges, I doubt not but I shall have Cr. for them when my Ac^t is Stated and adjusted and that there is a balance due me from the [undecipherable] States. Rest Assured that no time will be lost in Stating and forwarding my Ac^t as early as possible after getting into my House which is now nearly ready where I can get my papers that are at present packed up Opened. The Pay Master will be Sent in a few days to Savannah for the money intended to pay the Troops they have been Mustered in each Muster Roll for two Months it would be a great convenience to Send the money in future for 2 — 4 or 6 Months the Pay Rolls can be made According to the number of Months Ordered to be paid.
