Inclosed you will receive two accounts Current stated from the Books of this Office, on the one, as Captain of levies there is a balance unaccounted for of Three hundred and forty one Dollars & thirty three Cents and on the other as captain of the US 4th Regt a balance of Eleven thousand two hundred & thirteen Dollars & twenty seven Cents which sums I have to request you will be pleased to account for to Caleb Swan Esqr either by refunding the balance or producing Vouchers for any further expenditures, in either case you will transmit his Receipts, that after examination they may be passed to your credit on the Books of this Office.

It is a desirable thing to have all Pub[lic] accounts settled as early as possible I should [be] pleased to learn of your having effected a settlemen[t] the agent War Department at Knoxville that he may [re]mit them here for a final examination and entry
