Dear Sir.
The Secretary of War has, this day, requested the Sec.y of the Treasury to direct the purchase of Ten Tons of Iron, for the Armoury at Springfield, and suggests the propriety of the Surveyor authorising David Ames to procure it in that quarter, as it can be had at as reasonable rate, and of as good quality, as elsewhere.
