Document 1797Requests orders on how to dispose of whiskey previously intended for John Park who cannot receive it due to lack of instructions.
Pittsburg 9 June 1797
Sir,
In pursuance of Articles of Agreement made the 31st day of April 1797 between the Secretary of the Treasury and James O’Hara Contractor (of which I have been furnished with a copy) I did on the first day of this month tender to John Park agent at this post for the Contractor all the provision then on hand all of which he the said agent has received except a quantity of whiskey which he alledges he is not by the aforesaid agreement obliged to receive it, not being any part of the provision deposited by the Contractor in consequence of stipulations in his contract or requisitions of the Commander in chief consequently the whiskey remains on hand, viz 400 Gallons and therefore I have to request to be informed in what manner I am to dispose of it.
