Petersburg 2^nd June 1797 Sir By this days post I am not favored with either letter or news papers from your Office. I therefore conclude you must have been absent on post day or too much employed. General Wilkinson immediately after his arrival at Fort Washington made and transmitted to me a requisition for a very considerable quantity of Ordnance and Quarter Master Stores to be immediately forwarded to Fort Washington with instructions to purchase such articles as were not on hand at the upper posts. Some of these I have purchased here some others cannot be procured there therefore encloses you a list of some of them which you will please to provide & send forward as early as possible. James Hamilton has arrived with the Indian Goods (Wyandot Shawnese & Delaware) and as several in need of money of which I have supplied him with 60 dollars for which his receipt is enclosed. That sum you will be pleased to stop at settlement of his account there to my credit. James Hamilton's receipt for a Trunk holding the property of Doctor Hansdale to be left at your store, is also enclosed. I also yesterday drew on you in favor of John Weemshall for 500 dollars at 5 days sight which be pleased to pay and charge as usual. All the Powder on hand at this post fit for use, except a few Barrels, is now on board a boat destined for Fort Washington and perhaps from thence to the Mississippi. N. B. Your letter of the 2^d ultimo covered an Invoice of the Wyandot Indian Goods which you direct to be sent forward with these goods. Quere.
