[236] [The Secretary of the Treasury] f^r W O: May 30. 1797 I herewith enclose you Copies of letters f^r M^r James Herschell and Capt Thomas Thompson dated May 6. & 22. by which it would appears, that altho the third payment is not become due, yet it would be for the Interest of the United States that M^r Herschell should have his third payment made him — I have therefore to request, that you will be pleased to take order to cause a third payment to be made him as soon as possible — f^r W O.
