May 30th 1797 I have to inform you that Edward Dow late a private in Springer's Company in the 3d United States Regiment has been paid at this Office from 1st Jan 1795 to the 19th May 1797 (the day of his discharge) in consequence of which you will be enabled to disallow all demands that can be made on you to that effect. Inclosed is a letter for the Paymaster of the said Regiment informing him also of the circumstances which I request you will convey to him as soon as possible. I am &c. W. Simmons
