I have to inform you that Edward Do[undecipherable] late a private in Springer's Company in the 5th Un[undecipherable: United] States Regiment has been paid at this Office from 1st [undecipherable] 1795 to the 19th May 1797 (the day of his discharge) in con[undecipherable: consequence] of which you will be enabled to disallow [any] demands that can be made on you to that effect[.] Inclosed is a letter for the Paymaster of the said Regiment informing him also of the circumstance[s] which I request you will convey to him as soon [as] possible.
