May 26^th 1797 Head Quarters of the Army Sir I have just time to acknowledge the receipt of your Letters of the 16^th 20. 27. 28. & 29^th April with the several accounts and Vouchers accompanying them I have not had time to examine them with your Abstract. therefore cannot be particular as respects the number & amount. I shall however in time & hope for the next post be enabled to do it and write you fully on every subject contained in your letter. The present meeting of Congress has caused an additional press of business in the Office and it will continue so while the Session continues I am pleased to find you have collec- ted so many of the Officers accounts and here let me repeat my solicitations for a continuance of your perseverence in obtaining as many more as possible, and forward them forthwith to this Office.
