May 24. 1797 There is wanted for the Frigate Constitution at Boston, five Tons of Copper proper for Casting Ferules & Braces and other Composition work, and also two Fire Engines one of which must be of a large Size, and the other proportionably smaller; will you be pleased to take order to have them provided — [D^r Truman Chairman New York] for W^o. May 25 1797 You will be pleased to send by an early conveyance to Henry Jackson Naval Agent at Boston 1200 pigs of Bar Bilge weighing about 100 Tons which you are requested to take from those that were selected out by Cap^t Talbot for the Frigate that was to have been built at New york — [Cap^t The^s. Thompson Portsmouth] for [and] W^o. May 27 1797 Your Letter of the 1^st Instant has been received. I am willing to agree to your last proposal of omitting the Articles mentioned in your letter, but the remaining part of those mentioned in my letter to you of the 3 Instant must be fully carried into effect — It may be proper to note the exceptions alluded to which will be as follows getting on board timber, and Cables and bending them; Making, Telling and fixing them on the quarters and finishing the yards, Mast Heads and Blocks and dead-eyes. If the aforementioned exceptions are agreeable the sum proposed, I shall expect every part of the Business of Rigging &c. will be completely finished for the additional sum of 500 Dollars —
