I received your letter of the 1st Inst. enclo your a/c for Pay & Subsistence for April amounting to 5 Dollars, and John Ramsays order in your favor for his Pay for January, February, March & April 1797 amounting to 16 Dollars, both which sums as well as the sum of $80 Dol being for two months pay in advance you will receive from Jonathan Jackson Esqr Supervisor Boston on giving him duplicate Receipts for each sum.
You will be indulged with relinquishment of 20 Dollars per month from your monthly pay, the payments of which will take place at this Office your power of Attorney of [strikethrough: Attorney] when you forward the proper Certificate of the Paymaster of his having deducted the amount from your pay on the Rolls.
