Pittsburgh 5^th May 1797 Sir I am honoured with yours of the 28^th ultimo — the Bills which I informed you I had drawn on the department, numbered from 77 to 86 inclusive, for one thousand Dollars each, dated 7^th Aprile 1797, in favour Francis Jones, at 15 Days sight, were transmitted by me to Kentucky to purchase the Cavalry horses, & defray Contingencies, & are Chargable on the estimate, which I last forwarded to you. When I commenced drawing on you, I numbered the Bills as usual, beginning with N^o 1 — which practice I shall pursue — I will always keep you as regularly advised of the Bills I draw as possible. & I have little doubt from the punctuality with which I shall be governed, that I shall, by Duplicates or otherwise, keep you generally well informed — I will attend to furnishing you without delay a general return of Stores in Charge of the Q^r Master Dep^t eastward — I am Sir, yours Very Humble Servent Ja^s Wilkins J^r [General Hodgson Esq^t]
