Pittsburg 8^th May 1797. Sir I have herewith enclosed and transmitted Muster and Pay Rolls of Captain Rob^t Bird's Company of the 4^th Regiment for November & December 1796 also for January February & March 1797 together with 13 other accounts of Expenditures in your department accompanied by a Schedule of these several accounts by which you will see the Agregate amount to be 2175 dollars 25¾ cents which sum you will be pleased to place to my credit — The Payment of Captain Penner's Company cannot be completed till his return from Detroit — He is, however, expected in few days — Captain Pepple's Rolls are not yet all made out, but shortly will be completed & transmitted to you. Captain Moses Porter informs me that D. A. [undecipherable] has been allowed Six Months Pay, as one of the deranged Officers, on that case, I hope you have been kind enough to have taken notice of his draught on you in my favor for 22 dollars. P.S. Your letter of the 28^th ultimo together with one off same date from Samuel Davis Esq^r, enclosing three post notes amounting to 148¾ dollars is this moment received and for which sum I have transmitted a receipt to M^r Davis — A duplicate of which is enclosed herewith.
