April 29. 1797 Sir I have forwarded to you by this day's mail a draught of the inboard Work for the Algerian Frigate in which the various rooms are fully laid off, you will thereby be enabled to give the Master Joiner every necessary information relative to their Stations and particular Juncture. -- a draught of the Officers births on the lower deck will be forwarded in time for their being erected - I am informed that M^r. [undecipherable] has sent off a Vessel for Portsmouth laden with Rigging and [undecipherable] - [Capt. T. Thompson] Sir W.O. May 3. 1797. You will be pleased to deliver to the order of Gen. Henry Jackson Naval Agent at Boston any part of the Live Oak Timber in the Navy Yard that remains in rough State, and such of the White Oak timber and Plank as he may describe [Jacob Sheafe Esq^r] Sir W.O. May 8. 1797. M^r. [undecipherable] informs me that the upper deck Beams which were ordered of Pitch pine have not arrived at Boston, and as the Constructor will be in want of the Beams before any of Pitch pine could be procured; he is hereby directed to make use of Oak Beams in Lieu of them. I have also been informed that there are several pieces of Live Oak Timber and white Oak plank yet wanted to complete the Ship, and which may be procured from Portsmouth; I have written the Naval Agent there to deliver to your order, such of those Materials as you may want out of the Navy Yard. - If any deficiencies are found in any part of the Materials already provided, it will be proper that immediate representation may be made of the quantities so deficient, and measures will be taken to have them procured without delay - [Gen. Henry Jackson, Boston] Sir W.O. May 9. 1797 I received your letter of the 24^th Ultimo. I have considered your proposal of Rigging the Frigate complete for Sea; and am willing to allow you the Sum of 500 dollars in addition to your former contract, provided you perform the Work following Viz. To labour of every kind in taking on board all the Rigging, Cables and Anchors, getting in the Masts and Stepping them, to rig the yards of every description, and get such of them in their respective places as are usually fixed. to get all the Rigging on board, and rig the Ship in every respect complete for sea; set up the Standing Rigging taut and set and reeve every thing ready to bind the fasts. To hang the Rudder, and for the Tiller ropes, putting on the quarters [undecipherable] the Anchors, and bind the Cables for the Boats gripes, Buoy ropes, and Gun Tackling. To blacken Mastheads, yards, Deadeyes, Blocks &c all of which work to be performed in the best manner possible fitting for a Ship of War.
