Know ye, That John Civils a Mulatto [strikethrough: ind]

licenced and authorised by the Subscriber, in consequence
of the special order of the President of the United
States, to carry on trade and commerce with the said
Cherokee ——— nation of Indians for the
term of twelve Months from the date hereof : and
that the said John Civils has given
the Bond prescribed by law for the true and faithful ob-
servance of such rules and regulations as now are or here-
after shall be made for the government of trade and in-
tercourse with the Indian nations. The trade of
John Civils is to be confined to the Cherokee towns. GIVEN under my hand and seal, at
Knoxville State of Tennessee this
