Sir,
Mr. Patrick M'Niff, of Detroit, has been extremely useful to the late General Wayne, was much in his confidence, and furnished him with charts and topographical maps of certain districts of the Northern Country. He is, as far as my information goes, a good Surveyor and as such, and on account of the services he has rendered, is recommended as a fit person to be presented to the Surveyor General for employment in that line —
