The amount of which remaining in the Hands of M^r Forman Cheesman will be paid in such a manner as you may be pleased to direct. [Secretary of the Treasury] W.C. April 13. 1797 Received your letter of the 11 Instant. It appears to be most to the Interest of the U.S. that the Store house belonging to the public in the Navy Yard should remain in its present State provided the proprietor of the ground on which it Stands will permit it to remain for a moderate annual Compensation. you will be pleased to inform me as early as possible of his terms that proper measures may be immediately taken.
