[Gen.° H. Jackson] Sir W.O. April 13.^th 1797 I wrote you on the 11 of February last that you would be pleased to transmit to this Office a statement of all the Materials and Stores purchased by you on Account of the Frigate Building at Boston and where the same may have been deposited; and it is with a considerable degree of regret that I have to notice, my request has not as yet been complied with. When public Officers neglect to carry their orders into effect it appears evident, every part of the Business in which they are engaged must suffer, and no part can proceed with regularity and dispatch where such orders are not fully complied with. I therefore think it my duty to enforce a speedy compliance on your part to every Clause of your Instructions; and hope, the statement alluded to may be immediately made out and transmitted to This Office.
