In absence of the Accountant on a Journey to New York, I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 18th Inst enclosing the Account and Receipts for payments made by you to the Soldiers enlisted by the late Capt Gamble. The Balance of money remaining in your hands you will continue to hold for the Claimant. The amount forwarded was not entered to your debit on the Books of this Office but was considered as a private transaction between yourself and the executors. The vouchers therefore forwarded will be held subject to their order.
