Pittsburg 21. April 1797 Sir Lieut John Lovele arrived a few days ago that put into my hands the 5000 Dollers mentioned your letter of the 31^st ult^o for which I have signed duplicate receipts, that money I am applying as you have directed Viz to pay the Troops of the upper posts for November & December 1796 and for January February & March 1797 I have herewith enclosed an Estimate of Pay and Forage of the Troops now stationed at the upper posts for the Months before mentioned — The amount $755 100 Dollars by which you will see that the sum in hand is insufficient to complete the five Months Pay.
