Pittsburg 21. April 1797.
Sir,
In a former letter I mentioned that there were on hand at this post a considerable number of Duffel Blankets and as they are not of the quality with the[strikethrough: the] Army is usually supplied I took the liberty of suggesting that thy probably might be appropriated to supply a part of the Annual Tribute to the Chicasaw Indians being of the same sort and quality with which they are generally supplied My General Fifteen points out the number of these Blankets nearly all of which have been on hand since November 1794 and Notwithstanding every possible care is taken of them it is probable that they may be injured by the Moth. Will it not therefore be proper to apply these Blankets to some purpose as early as possible. General Wilkinson returned from visiting posts on the 19th He disapproves of the Site of that Garrison and proposes a removal of the buildings to a more healthy situation.
