I was led to this oversight from the Bookkeepers omitting an examination of Mr Diven's account as dt in the Levies. you will accordingly take notice of this circumstance, to prevent any improper impressions from my previous communications.

The Treasurer of the United States will remit you the sum of Nine hundred & eighty seven dollars which you will please to pay to Nehemiah Freeman Temporary PayMaster at West Point, being for the Pay Subsistance and Forage of the commissioned Officers, and the Pay of the Non Commissioned Officers & Privates stationed at West Point to the 31 March 1797 and take his duplicate receipts as usual.
