The enclosed exhibits an account of Sales of White Oak and pine Timber made agreeably to orders from the department of War, out of the Navy Yard at New York. The amount of which remaining in the Hands of Mr Forman Cheesman will be paid in such a manner as you may be pleased to direct.

Received your letter of the 11 Instant.
It appears to be most to the Interest of the U S. that the Storehouse belonging to the public in the Navy Yard should remain in its present State provided the proprietor of the ground on which it Stands will permit it to remain for a moderate annual Compensation. you will be pleased to inform me as early as possible of his terms that proper measures may be immediately taken.

Jackson] I wrote you on the 10th of February last that you would be pleased to transmit to this Office a Statement of all the Materials and Stores purchased by you on account of the Frigate Building at Boston and where the same may have been deposited: and it is with a considerable degree of regret that I have to notice, my request has not as yet been complied with.
