My dear Friend, I was [undecipherable: probable reading beset] by a thousand things before I left the city — & did not feel that I had left you or my country tho' I had got seated in the cabin of the boat half an hour under way — We arrived about night — and are at the Tavern — to day, we embark — The wind a head — we shall beat down to Reedy island — & then they take a N.W. [undecipherable,] go — W.m. is only so so — She is sitting by — & bids her affectionate complts to your good lady — She is reading the books — The enclosed are [undecipherable] for [undecipherable] — M.
