January 1797 and Muster & Pay rolls for February & March. The receipt Roll has been examined, from which I have deducted the pay of John Athey, deceased, which was received by Sergt Howrison, and which must be refunded to you. The pay of a deceased Soldier can only be paid at this Office to the legal representative of the deceased. The amount of the Receipt Roll being 1040^70/100 dollars will be passed to your Credit on the Books of this Office. The Pay Roll for February and March has also been examined amounting to Seven hundred and fifteen dollars ^4/100 including 4 dollars due to Joseph [undecipherable] for Bounty, the pay of Isuac Davis for August & September and Francis Holly for October and November 1796: you will please to observe that Thomas James is made up in pay Roll for 5^7/100 dollars, and Thomas Dorman for 51 Cents. The aforesaid sum of 715^9/100 dollars, you will receive from Edward Carrington Esq^r. Supervisor, Richmond on giving him duplicate Receipts for the due application thereof. I am &c.
