I this day received this remittance from the Treasurer of the United States of Seven hundred and Eight Dollars for the pay of Capt. Michael Kalliman and two De=tachments under his command at Fort Johnson 31. December 1796. And a further Sum of One hundred and Sixty four Dollars and 57 Cents on account of my Commission on receiving and paying monies [undecipherable] the War department for the quarters ending 31. December 1796. and quarter ending 30 September 1797. – agreeably to Warrants No 1909, & 910. of the Secretary of War – in conformity with [undecipherable] structions I herewith enclose you a Receipt from Capt. Michael Kalliman for the above Sum of Seven hundred and Eight Dollars, and as there appears to have been a mistake in deducting the Sum of 39[undecipherable] Dollars in the adjustment of my Accounts in my Commission for the [undecipherable] quarter, I would submit to you the propriety of deferring at present the transmission of a receipt for this partial remittance of 164 [undecipherable] Dollars until the whole amount is in hand, having more over therein the 24. March last. –
