I received your letter of the 24th ultt. and on a re-examination of your account for the quarter ending the 31st December 1796, I find that the clerk, who reported thereon, committed an error of Thirty Nine dollars & cts. which when rectified will be remitted you by the Treasurer of the United States, as well as the sum of Two hundred & Twenty five dollars; which you will please to pay to Augusta DeGrasse, Sub Engineer at Charleston, and take his duplicate Receipts therefor being for his compensation from 1st January to 31st March 1797
