Pittsburg 31 March 1797 Sir Your letters of the 21. & 24. instant accompanied by the news papers are this Moment come to hand. On the 3^d instant I transmitted to the Secretary of War a Return of Q.M. Ordnance Hospital & Indian Stores & Cloathing up to the first of January 1797. This Return I expected would have come into your hands and have saved me the labor of making a duplicate of it Have by this days Mail transmitted to you under cover to the Secretary of War two Packets containing Vouchers of Issues of Provisions at le Boeuf from the 16 July 1795 to the 31 of March 1796 inclusive also Vouchers of Issues at [undecipherable: probable reading Cayahoga] from 30, of July to 30 November 1795 inclusive and by [undecipherable] from 30 of [undecipherable] to [undecipherable] November [undecipherable] inclusive and [undecipherable] — next post I shall endeavor to forward vouchers of Issues at the Post — Have this Day Drawn on you at 8 Days sight in favor of John Lewis for 1000 dollars and also at some time and sight in favor of Stephen Seager for 260 dollars both of which be pleased to pay and charge as usual. Amongst the Articles delivered over by the State of Pennsylvania to the U. S. at le Boeuf on the 1 of August 1795 are two Iron 12 pounders mounted on old decayed ship Carriages. These two Guns are of course without new Carriages and Timber also timber for that purpose is prepared but the Irons must necessarily come from Phil.^r [undecipherable] mounting them on traveling Carriages you will please to observe that the Diameter of the Trunnions is 4½ inches [undecipherable] 4½ inches long — Presume you have on Hand suitable Irons for these Guns which can be immediately sent forward to this Post.
