Capt William MacRea Accountants Office
Alexandria March 30th 1797
Sir
I received your letter of the 20th instant & have in answer thereto to inform you that on a reference to your account on the Books of this Office I find you stand charged with monies received in the year 1792 and early part of 1793 on account of your pay, one months pay of a detachment, and for Contingencies of marching it to Pittsburgh. It will therefore be necessary for you to account for those monies before payment of the six months pay and Subsistance can be made to you by producing Vouchers for your payments and stating a Account Current shewing how your pay for that period has been settled. There can be no doubt but that all the emoluments you are entitled to in consequence of the of the Act of the 3d March 1797 are 6 months pay & Subsistance as a [Co—]
I am &c.
