The late Capt. James Stephenson stands charged on the Books of this Office with several large sums of m[oney] received along time since, on application to him for a settlem[ent] of his account — I received for answer, that he had settle[d] the same with you agreeably to the annexed Certifica[te]
Should you be in possession of any vouchers fo[r] money expended by him I request you will immediately forward them to this Office that the same may underg[o] the necessary examination and pass'd if found right to [the] Credit of his Acc.t and the same closed on the Books of this [Office].
Your early attention to this object is particul[arly] requested. I am &c.
