The late Capt James Stephenson stands charged on the Books of this Office with several large sums of m[oney] received along time since, on application to him for a settlem[ent] of his account — I received for answer that he had settle[d] the same with you agreeably to the annexed Certifica[te]
Should you be in possession of any vouchers for money expended by him I request you will immediately forward them to this Office that the same may undergo the necessary examination and pass'd if found right to Credits of his Acct and the same closed on the Books of this [Office]
