I have the pleasure to acknowledge the receipt of your several letters of the 9th 16 & 30th of Decr 1796, and 10 January 1797, and the duplicates of the of the 16th december and 10 January, and their several enclosures.
In order to exhibit a clearer statement of the transactions of Captain De Butts while I lay sick I have enclosed a Sketch of an account the result of which will shew that Captain De Butts shall stand charged with the amount of his drafts on you, and credited by the same sum paid into my hands: There I then became [undecipherable] with the same sum, and also a further sum which he paid to me making in all $131. dollars for which I drew in favor of the said De Butts bills No 116. 117 & 118. amounting to $131 dollars & am of acourse to be charged with it accordingly —
