West Point March 21^st 1797 Sir, A letter from Capt. Fleming of the 16^th instant has been handed me this evening by Lieut. Lovell, by which I am informed that an account I had been directed to forward you had not then been received, in consequence I take the liberty to inform you that my letter enclosing the the Acco.^t mentioned, is dated the 13^th instant and was forwarded the same day to the Post Office: Peeks Kill by Col. Rochefontaine. As Capt. Fleming informs me he has delayed several days in Philad.^a expecting the receipt of said letter, and expresses a fear that it has miscarried I have thought it proper to give you the above information.
