The Comptroller of the Treasury Accountants Office Sir March 17^th 1797 I herewith inclose you extracts of the accounts of Abraham Hunt, Elias Dayton & John Hopkins, as they stand on the Books of this Office — By which it appears that they are considerably indebted to the United States— On their being called on for a settlement they answer that they have rendered their accounts and Vouchers at the Treasury and fully accounted for the Ball— should this on examination be the [case] I have to request that you will be pleased to give directions for furnishing me with the necessary [strikethrough: directions] Certificates of the sums passes to the debit of each on the Books of the Treasury, of the monies advanced them from this Office that the accounts may be closed by transfering the sums to accounts transfered to the Books of this Treasury— Wm Simmons Acct.
