March 14. 1797 — I received your letter dated the 3 Instant, and have agreeably to your request, taken proper measures, to have the second payment, that appears to be due, transmitted to Portsmouth without loss of time — You will find enclosed, a Plan for the Gundecks of the Frigate which will also guide you for Stationing the Beams of the lower deck — The draught of the Sheer plan will be sent as soon as it can be finished. — [Cap^t. March 18. 1797 The 24 pounders cast at Hope Furnace for your ship being ready for proving, I have ordered 24 pound shot round to Providence for that purpose, and have written to M^r. Brown to notify you when your Attendance will be necessary to see them proved — I have therefore to request you will repair to Hope Furnace on his informing you of every thing being ready, and in conjunction with Cap^t. Pierce examine, and pass receipts for such of the Cannons as shall stand proof, and are suitable for service — I have enclosed you Copies of Instructions to Cap^t. Pierce and M^r.
